Westbank has modern well-equipped gym supported by qualified fitness instructors. The gym provides a friendly and inclusive environment that welcomes all members of the community and all ages and abilities.
We have a comprehensive range of cardiovascular and a selection of free weights available.
Individually tailored gym programmes or even personal training you can get the most from the time and effort you put into your exercise. Try our total body programme by combining the fitness suite with other activities such as Circuit Training, Pump, Aerobics, Spinning and Legs Bums and Tums.
All users are asked to complete an initial one-to-one gym induction (bookable via reception). The trainers are normally on hand to advise on use of the machines. The gym is open 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Medical professional referral
From Cardiac Rehabilitation and Post physio joint replacement and stroke rehabilitation, to High blood pressure, Diabetes and poor balance, supported by our highly qualified staff. Our staff are GP referral, cardiac, postural stability and OTAGO qualified. We can help you get back on track with a personalised exercise plan and 100% supervised sessions. These sessions are available to people whose medical professional consider could benefit from regular physical activity. Assessment via referral only.

Whatever your goal, we can help you to achieve it. Our facilities can cater for anything from general cardiovascular conditioning to Olympic lifting and everything in between. Choose the way that you want to exercise by selecting from gym sessions, group exercise classes, personal training and small group sessions. Receive a gym programme as part of your membership along with the help and advice to make sure that the exercise you do is safe, time efficient and most importantly suitable for your goals.
Spinning: A cardio workout on indoor bikes providing a low impact, high intensity session.
Pump: A great way to tone. High reps for muscular endurance and a great all over body workout.
Circuits: A full cardio-vascular work-out for those who want to push themselves a little bit harder.
Circuits Plus: A little more than a traditional circuit’s class. High intensity for a boost to your fitness gains.
Legs Bums and Tums: Works exactly what it says. Tone your legs, bum and tummy!
Small group sessions
Weight a minute: Short, Sharp, high intensity, weights based workout. Get fit one minute at a time
Rapid Results Cardio: high intensity and time efficient. Make the best use of your time and energy to accelerate your fitness gains.
One to One
Personal Training: Take the guess work out of your training and get the most from your time and effort. Programming specifically for you and your goals.
Aerobox: 30 minutes of stress busting effort. Punch your way to fitness.
The fitness suite is closed to all other users on a Monday and Thursday between 4.30pm and 5:30pm to allow access to young people age 13 to age 16. A parental consent form is required.
